Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior F/A-18 Service Life Program Manager (Level L) to join our dynamic team in San Antonio, Texas.

The SLM Program leader will report directly to the SLM program manager and leads the management of SLM execution at all sites. This position will be an active member of the program leadership team requiring strong working relationships with senior management, functional leaders on the program, suppliers and customers. This position’s responsibilities will also include planning for induction of Block III and 10K hour life extension aircraft into SLM; and the execution of the SLAP/SLEP IDIQ contracts.

The SLM PM will be responsible for adapting the program structure and applying it to new site installations. The PM will be responsible for the Program Execution Plan and program baseline; this will require integration across new and existing SLM sites. This position will be an essential contributor in ensuring that SLM operates as ‘one program, multiple sites”. Close working relationships will be required with the broader PM team and site leaders within the SLM program.

Responsibilities will also include change management and the capturing and management of program Risks, Issues and Opportunities and associated mitigation plans and capture opportunities. This position will be one of the most influential positions on the program in determining how the program will be executed.  Successful candidates will possess a record of high performance with a diverse leadership background. A broad range of experience and skills will enable this candidate to succeed in this management position.

Preference will be given to those candidates with experience on F/A-18, MRO programs, and PM experience, and interaction with the customer community (USN/DoD). Knowledge of Boeing processes demonstrated working relationships with internal partners and experience overseeing contracted program performance is highly valued. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • This position requires full-time, on-site presence in San Antonio, TX
  • Facilitates collaboration and teamwork across the SLM IPT through influence-based leadership
  • Coordinates transition of work from St. Louis to San Antonio, including knowledge transfer, backshop standup, and relocation of materials and equipment
  • Partners with Operations to monitor and optimize aircraft performance in support of contractual and LRBP obligations
  • Supports and champions LEAN-based continuous improvement efforts to optimize program schedule, supply, and organizational culture
  • Oversees the CFR lifecycle for multiple recurring SLM CFRs: tracks monthly burn rates, enforces compliance with approved values, and manages fund expiration to prevent lapses
  • Maintains and cultivates relationships with PMA‑265, Northrop Grumman, and Fleet Readiness Center Southwest to support program execution objectives
  • Provides oversight for SLAP/SLEP IDIQ program execution, with a focus on EA‑18G Growler SLM standup by CY29
  • Coordinates biennial proposal cycles and contract negotiations to establish and renew two‑year SLM IDIQ periods of performance
  • Oversees compliance with contractual reporting deliverables—EVM, IMS, aircraft material condition reports and forecasts, site plans, meeting minutes, and other required submissions.
  • Ensures monthly CAM reporting meet standards by reviewing VAR completion/ quality and confirming ETC updates
  • Assists with annual major EACs through input validation, risk and opportunity verification, and assessment of current and projected performance trends
  • Serves in a leadership capacity for all internal and external programmatic meetings, including Risk Issue & Opportunity (RIO) Management, Change Control Boards (CCB), Business Performance Reviews (BPR), and Program Management Meetings (PMM)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • More than 3 years of experience in a leadership role, leading teams or projects to successful completion
  • Experience leveraging business acumen to effectively manage cost and schedule
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Scheduling, Supply Chain, Finance, Project Engineering, Production Engineering, Quality, Project Management, or Business Operations
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience applying Boeing Program Management Best Practices, including areas such as program planning, risk management, schedule and cost control, stakeholder engagement, quality assurance, or performance measurement

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience collaborating with senior level/executive level management
  • Ability to brief executive and admiral-level leadership
  • Experience with proposal and negotiations process
  • Experience in an external customer-facing role
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.)

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $141,000 - $174,300
