Join a fast-paced, hands-on engineering team supporting Stryker’s Sage portfolio of mechanical medical products used in hospitals around the world. As part of our Sustaining Engineering group, you’ll keep our life-improving products performing at their best — solving complex technical challenges, improving manufacturability, and driving cost savings across extrusion, textiles, and disposable plastic product lines. What You Will Do
- You will support and sustain existing medical devices throughout their lifecycle, resolving product issues, implementing design improvements, and driving cost and reliability enhancements.
- You will lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions (NCs, CAPAs) to address quality or manufacturing challenges quickly and effectively.
- You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain teams to ensure design changes are implemented seamlessly.
- You will partner with external suppliers and contract manufacturers to qualify alternate components, manage obsolescence, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- You will apply sound engineering principles, including DFM, DFMEA, and PFMEA, to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- You will author and maintain engineering documentation such as design history files, risk management records, and change control reports per the Quality Management System.
- You will support production and lab investigations, applying hands-on testing and troubleshooting to solve problems on the floor.
- You will drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, process optimization, and product reliability.
What You Need (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering (or related discipline) is required
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in sustaining or manufacturing engineering within a regulated industry (medical device, aerospace, or automotive)
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes including extrusion, textiles, or injection-molded plastics
- Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, Creo) and mechanical design principles (GD&T, tolerance analysis)
- Strong analytical and communication skills with a proactive, hands-on problem-solving approach
- $84,900 - $136,100 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
