Loblaw Companies Limited, including Shoppers Drug Mart, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Director, Pharmacy & Healthcare Talent Acquisition Strategy to lead the enterprise-wide strategy for attracting, developing, and scaling top pharmacy and healthcare world-class healthcare talent.

The Senior Director will partner closely with executive leaders, oversee high-impact recruitment programs, and build strong, future-ready talent pipelines that support the evolving needs of our Pharmacy and Healthcare businesses.

The ideal candidate is a visionary talent strategist with deep expertise in recruitment, workforce market intelligence, and healthcare sector dynamics. They bring a proven ability to operate at scale, lead high-performing teams, and drive measurable business outcomes in a fast-moving, highly regulated environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the multi-year talent acquisition strategy for Pharmacy and Healthcare roles in alignment with enterprise growth plans.
  • Expand international recruitment efforts through partnerships with global education institutions, licensing bodies, government agencies, and professional associations.
  • Use advanced market and competitive intelligence to identify emerging talent pools, regulatory trends, and opportunities for strategic workforce expansion.
  • Oversee recruitment operations across the enterprise to ensure scalable, efficient, and data-driven processes that create an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Build and guide innovative sourcing and pipelining strategies across digital, community, inbound, outbound, and international channels.
  • Lead enterprise hiring forecasts and talent modelling to support workforce planning and business needs.
  • Advise senior leaders across Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart on talent risks, opportunities, and long-range workforce strategies.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition leaders, HR Business Partners, Talent Strategy COEs, and Mobility/Immigration teams to align on organizational talent priorities.
  • Represent the organization at key industry events, government discussions, and professional forums to strengthen brand visibility and advocacy.
  • Oversee recruitment budgeting, ROI analysis, vendor management, and channel optimization to ensure strong operational and financial performance.
  • Lead enterprise recruitment campaigns—including digital, social, and experiential initiatives—to support employer brand and the Colleague Value Proposition.
  • Design and manage programs that support international hiring, onboarding, licensing, and mobility pathways.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development to a high-performing team, promoting a culture of inclusion, accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and optimize external recruitment partners and agency relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and delivery.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting tools that support data-informed decision-making at the executive level.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement using industry benchmarks and operational insights to strengthen scalability and effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international hires throughout licensing and certification milestones to support engagement and retention.
  • Build and strengthen strategic relationships with Canadian pharmacy schools, student associations, and professional student networks to enhance early-talent pipelines and support long-term Canadian talent pipeline growth.
  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive social media strategy—integrated with employer brand, recruitment marketing, and enterprise campaigns—to expand reach, engagement, and conversion across key pharmacy and healthcare talent segments.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in recruitment and leadership, with at least 5 years focused on international talent strategy.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare and pharmacy recruitment, ideally with experience supporting regulated professions.
  • Knowledge of RCIC processes, international credentialing, and immigration frameworks is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in business, HR, or a related field; CHRL or CHRM designation considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing comprehensive recruitment strategies and plans.
  • Experience building social media presence and leading recruitment marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a large, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong skills in reporting, performance metrics, benchmarking, and process improvement.
  • Proven leadership experience in coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional client service skills with the ability to build strong relationships and uphold service standards at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid understanding of project management principles, including planning, design, communication, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, reasoning, and issue-resolution capabilities.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution of recruitment programs.
  • Proficiency with PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), social media, online recruitment tools, and applicant tracking systems.
