Position:
The Sr. Director, Medical Information, Training & Communication, Medical Affairs Neurology will lead the development and execution of Annexon’s scientific communication, medical information, and training strategies within the Neurology therapeutic area. Reporting to senior leadership in Medical Affairs, this role oversees scientific content creation, medical inquiry management, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure compliant, accurate, and impactful dissemination of medical information. The position also drives scientific training initiatives, manages publication and education vendors, and ensures high-quality, evidence-based communications that support Annexon’s mission and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop scientific content for but not limited to non-CME presentations at medical conferences, advisory board meetings, congress exhibits, field medical presentations, and internal Annexon meetings.
- Develop standard and customized responses to medical information requests from external parties including but not limited to health care professionals, patients, and health care organizations.
- Establish and implement a process for tracking all scientific communications across Annexon to ensure timely, and compliant execution of Annexon’s scientific/medical communication plan.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Program Strategy & Operations, and all functional areas to ensure real-time knowledge, and on-time execution of data communications, including but not limited to congress abstract submissions, publications, and external Annexon presentations.
- Represent Annexon with external stakeholders such as authors, journals, scientific/medical societies, and other relevant third parties.
- Represent medical affairs as reviewer at Annexon MLR meetings.
- Manage the partnership with Annexon’s publication and medical education vendor(s).
- Lead the development of and execute scientific training plans that include content including but not limited to disease state training, product related training, competitor training, field resources related training, and congress materials related training
- Manage materials through the MLR review process and Veeva
- Exhibits broad knowledge of assigned therapeutics areas, product labelling and regulatory guidance
- Develop processes and SOPs associated with creation of medical information tools such as CRLs, SRLs, HCP response times
- Lead the Medical Information efforts in creation and maintenance of global response documents that are scientifically accurate, fair balanced and that meets customer needs, while utilizing expertise of other annexon functions
- Lead the effort for creation and maintenance of verbal responses that are used by Medical Affairs
- Ensure documentation of receipt and response to all medical information requests
- Develop and maintain relevant knowledge repositories, including medical information responses and publications
- Ensure the highest degree of quality and medical accuracy for all outputs developed
- Appropriately liaise with Drug Safety and Quality regarding adverse events and product complaints, ensuring systematic capture and timely reporting
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Required:
- Graduate level degree in health sciences, pharmacy, or public health required.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in biopharma Medical Affairs, Medical Information, publications, and/or operations.
- Therapeutic area expertise in immunology, neurology, neuromuscular and movement disorders.
- Proven partner management skills to achieve results based on key performance indicators.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization process
- Knowledge of GPP, and all applicable regional, and international regulations and guidelines
- Project management, and resource planning/management experience
- Skilled at effectively communicating complex scientific/clinical concepts and data in written and oral forms.
- Experienced at engagement and scientific exchange with scientists and clinicians.
- Proven record of solving problems coupled with exhibiting good judgement regarding relevant issues.
Preferred:
- Experience in medical affairs and/or clinical R&D preferred
- Therapeutic area experience in neurology/neuromuscular, ophthalmology/retina and immunology preferred
Salary Range: $253,000 - $281,500
Location: Annexon Biosciences is located in Brisbane, California and preference is given to candidates in the San Francisco Bay Area.
