GSK

Senior Director Imaging and Analytics

USA - Massachusetts - Waltham Full time

Job Purpose

The Senior Director, Imaging and Analytics will provide strategic leadership for the integration of advanced clinical imaging and data science to accelerate drug discovery and development across Respiratory, Hepatology, Renal, Neuro and other disease areas within GSK’s Respiratory, Immunology & Inflammation Research Unit (RIIRU). Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical and Translational Imaging, this role will shape and deliver an imaging and analytics strategy that leverages internal and external data assets, AI/ML and multi omics integration to improve trial design, deepen disease understanding and ultimately transform patient outcomes.

  • Develop and implement the vision of imaging and analytics in clinical pharmacology and quantitative medicine, ensuring alignment with RIIRU’s portfolio strategy and GSK’s ambition to get ahead of disease.

  • Translate scientific and technological advances in imaging, AI/ML and human disease data into scalable solutions that enable earlier diagnosis, better patient stratification and more efficient clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical trial innovation

  • Lead the design and implementation of imaging‑enabled prognostic and predictive models to support trial enrichment, covariate adjustment and responder identification across early and late‑stage development.

  • Partner with Clinical Pharmacology, Biostatistics and Epidemiology to embed quantitative imaging endpoints and decision frameworks into model‑informed drug development (MIDD) approaches.

Disease and data integration

  • Characterize disease heterogeneity by defining and validating imaging phenotypes that enable molecular endophenotyping and biomarker discovery in respiratory, immunology and related indications.

  • Develop and oversee disease progression and treatment‑effect models using imaging linked with genomics, transcriptomics (including single‑cell and spatial), proteomics, metabolomics and soluble biomarkers.

AI/ML and multi‑omics innovation

  • Provide strategic oversight for AI/ML‑driven image analysis, including advanced segmentation, feature extraction and multi‑modal data fusion, working closely with central AI/ML engineering teams and external partners.

  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives that combine imaging, clinical phenotyping and multi‑omics datasets to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets, and to support precision medicine strategies in key disease areas.

Platforms, standards and governance

  • Shape enterprise policies and best practices for imaging and related metadata storage, curation, retention and governance, including optimal use of DICOM servers and platforms such as Flywheel.

  • Drive integration with radiology software suites and standardization/validation of quantitative imaging endpoints, ensuring regulatory and scientific robustness for global clinical programs.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Capture stakeholder needs and prioritize an impactful imaging and analytics portfolio in partnership with AIML, CPQM (QSP), Biostatistics (predictive modelling), Epidemiology and therapeutic area teams.

  • Lead through influence and direct line management to develop, mentor and inspire a high‑performing, cross‑disciplinary network of imaging scientists, data scientists and external collaborators, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability and scientific excellence.

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g. medical imaging, biomedical engineering, computational science, pharmacology) with extensive experience in pharmaceutical/biotech R&D.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading imaging, AI/ML or quantitative biomarker strategies that have influenced clinical development decisions, ideally in respiratory, immunology or related therapeutic areas.
  • Proven experience in leading cross functional teams, managing complex global projects and partnering with academic groups, consortia and industry vendors in imaging and analytics.

• If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $242,550 to $404,250.
