GDIT is seeking an experienced Data Linkage Lead for upcoming opportunities to support real-world data initiatives, with a focus on large-scale data and privacy-preserving record linkage across claims, clinical, and other real-world data sources. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and execution of linkage strategies, automation, and PPRL methods, and ensure that research datasets are delivered securely and compliantly within secure enclaves and related real-world data platforms.
HOW WILL SENIOR DATA LEAD-REAL WORLD DATA MAKE AN IMPACT:
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of data linkage workflows that integrate multiple real-world data sources to create deidentified research datasets.
Direct the use of identifiers, PPRL, and related methods to enable high-quality linkage while protecting privacy, including the design of masking, tokenization, and de-identification strategies that meet applicable policies.
Develop, validate, and document linkage algorithms and workflows, including scoring and quality assessment methods, to support repeatable and automatable data linkage across diverse data sources.
Advance Linkage Technology by prototyping and productizing automation, and AI/ML methods
Oversee access to multiple data sources under DUAs, maintain an inventory of sources and linkage activities, and ensure full compliance with data use, security, and privacy requirements.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and guidance on linkage and PPRL methods, including clear descriptions of assumptions, limitations, and quality metrics.
Work closely with data architects, enclave engineers, and program operations teams to create linkage outputs that are structured, stored, and delivered in a manner that supports efficient, reproducible analytics and researcher workflows.
Provide expert technical assistance and training for researchers and associated staff on topics such as linkage design, data preparation for linkage, appropriate use of linked datasets, and interpretation of linkage quality.
Support the growth of the FedHealth division by developing and maintaining high quality relationships with customers and partners, ensuring alignment with the National Institutes of Health's strategic direction.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and implementing large-scale data linkage projects involving health-related real-world data in federal, research, or healthcare environments.
Practical expertise in probabilistic and deterministic record linkage methods, including the design of matching rules, use of identifiers and tokens, and evaluation of linkage quality.
Hands-on experience with privacy-preserving record linkage, encryption or tokenization approaches, and de-identification strategies suitable for regulated health and administrative data.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with senior leadership as well as multidisciplinary technical and scientific teams in government, research, or healthcare settings.
Security Clearance: Able to obtain and maintain a Government Public Trust or higher.
Location: Hybrid /Washington, DC metropolitan area preferred to support on-site collaboration with federal customers and other partners.
PREFERRED:
Advanced degree in a relevant field (PhD, MD, or equivalent).
8+ years of experience leading and implementing large-scale data linkage projects involving health-related real-world data in federal, research, or healthcare environments.
Familiarity with interoperability and research standards and their application to real-world data.
Proven ability to interpret, implement, and automate data use constraints from DUAs, ethics and privacy reviews, and licensing agreements into technical designs, including access controls, retention, de-identification, and export rules.
Experience with automated or AI/ML-assisted linkage and data quality methods, including design of validation studies and quality monitoring.
