About the Role
We are hiring a Data Engineer (G6) to design, build, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines that enable business insights across Gap Inc.’s global operations. This role is hands-on, focused on developing scalable data solutions, supporting analytics, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate thrives on solving complex data problems, working with modern cloud platforms, and contributing to a growing data engineering ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to integrate data from multiple business applications.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Solution Architects, and business teams to understand and fulfill data requirements.
- Implement best practices in coding, testing, and automation.
- Support data quality, governance, and access control initiatives.
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Assist in monitoring pipeline performance and resolving data issues.
- Recommend improvements to data processes and platform capabilities.
Who You Are
- 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based platforms:
- Azure: Databricks, PySpark, Data Lake, ADF
- Or equivalent GCP stack: BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer, etc.
- Proficiency in Python, Linux scripting, and building scalable data pipelines.
- Familiarity with relational/non-relational databases, data streams, and file stores.
- Experience with version control and CI/CD tools (GitHub, Jenkins).
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, MicroStrategy).
- Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and data governance.
- Exposure to DevOps practices, monitoring, and observability.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional teams.
