About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our global Cyber Architecture and Engineering team. This role is ideal for a skilled and motivated professional who is passionate about security engineering, automation, and architectural design, and is looking to grow into a Cybersecurity Architect role in next few years.
As part of our global cybersecurity team, you will work closely with senior architects, application and infrastructure teams, and our global offices to design, implement, and enhance secure, scalable solutions. You will contribute to the maturity of Russell Investments’ hybrid cybersecurity ecosystem—spanning on-premises and Azure Cloud environments—and gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as AI-driven security, Zero Trust, and continuous controls monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering & Implementation
Implement and support enterprise cybersecurity tools and platforms, ensuring optimal configuration, integration, and performance.
Participate in the design and development of secure architecture, working under the guidance of senior architects.
Contribute to engineering initiatives focused on automation, modernization, and resilience.
Support the deployment and maintenance of security capabilities across hybrid environments (on-premises and Azure Cloud).
Build and enhance automated security controls, leveraging scripting and orchestration tools such as PowerShell or Python.
Conduct threat modeling, control validation, and testing as part of project security reviews.
Assist in developing and documenting security engineering standards and reference implementations.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Support the evaluation and pilot of new security technologies, including AI/ML-driven solutions, automation platforms, and Zero Trust components.
Participate in Cybersecurity Technology Build (CTB) initiatives to enhance the firm’s security posture.
Contribute to continuous controls monitoring efforts to improve detection, prevention, and compliance assurance.
Collaborate with the global cybersecurity team on initiatives related to AI security, DevSecOps integration, and infrastructure-as-code security.
Collaboration & Governance
Work closely with Cyber Operations, IT Infrastructure, and Application teams to integrate security into project lifecycles.
Support architecture design reviews and ensure alignment with corporate security policies and standards.
Partner with global teams across North America, EMEA, and APAC, fostering knowledge sharing and engineering alignment.
Act as a technical representative for community engagement with organizations such as FS-ISAC, participating in knowledge exchanges and intelligence sharing.
Qualifications and Experience:
Support architecture design reviews and ensure alignment with corporate security policies and standards.
Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, CEH, AZ-500, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience with hybrid environments (on-premises + Azure Cloud).
Practical knowledge of endpoint, network, email security, and cloud security engineering.
Experience with AI/ML Security, Zero Trust, Identity and Access Management (IAM, PIM, MFA, SSO), and data protection frameworks.
Proficiency with key platforms such as Endpoint Protection Platforms (e.g., CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender), SIEM’s (e.g., Splunk, CrowdStrike Next-Gen SIEM, Microsoft Sentinel), and deception technologies.
Working knowledge of DevSecOps tools, infrastructure-as-code, and automated compliance solutions.
Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation and integration.
Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and MITRE ATT&CK.
Experience collaborating with global cybersecurity teams in a distributed environment.
