The Managing Director, Cross-Asset Controller will be a key leader within Apollo’s Global Finance organization, responsible for driving best-in-class financial management, governance, and operational execution across all asset classes. This role will oversee and integrate accounting, reporting, analytics and control functions for Apollo’s diversified investment strategies, ensuring consistency, transparency, and scalability across the firm’s expanding platform.
A critical component of this role will be to lead financial oversight and control for Apollo’s new and growing cross-asset strategies — ensuring robust infrastructure, accounting frameworks, and operational readiness to support innovation and growth. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical finance depth, strategic judgment, and cross-asset fluency, with a track record of leading large, complex, global finance organizations through transformation and expansion.
This role reports directly to the Apollo Asset Management Chief Financial Officer (AAM CFO) and serves as a strategic partner to business leadership across all of Apollo’s investment platforms.
Strategic Leadership & Oversight
Serve as the enterprise-level controller across all asset classes, ensuring consistent financial reporting, valuation policies, and control frameworks across Equity, Credit, Hybrid, and new investment initiatives.
Partner with senior business leaders to establish finance infrastructure for emerging platforms — ensuring alignment with Apollo’s accounting standards, valuation principles, and investor reporting expectations.
Oversee all fund accounting, management company accounting, and product control activities to ensure financial integrity and alignment with Apollo’s strategic objectives.
Lead cross-functional coordination between fund finance, corporate accounting, treasury, operations, tax, and legal functions to support complex, multi-asset transactions and platform launches.
Support new investment structures and product innovation by designing scalable operating models and control environments that facilitate growth while maintaining financial discipline.
Transformation, Governance & Risk Management
Drive standardization and automation of reporting and control processes across asset classes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
Lead the implementation of cross-asset finance technology and data solutions, ensuring seamless consolidation, analytics, and reporting across the enterprise.
Oversee key audit and compliance relationships, ensuring proactive engagement with regulators, auditors, and internal control stakeholders.
Establish and maintain a strong governance framework across global finance functions, including financial controls, valuation oversight, and operational risk management.
Finance Leadership & Business Partnership
Partner with the CFO, Business CFOs, and Platform Heads to enhance performance management, fund economics, and financial insight across Apollo’s investment businesses.
Serve as a key finance advisor on new investment structures and transactions, ensuring financial feasibility, tax efficiency, and appropriate control implications.
Drive continuous improvement in finance processes and policies that enhance Apollo’s readiness for continued diversification and growth.
Collaborate closely with the Global Transformation Office and Technology teams to integrate finance modernization initiatives into the firmwide transformation agenda.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of finance professionals, fostering excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
Strengthen the firm’s controller talent pipeline through succession planning, career development, and rotational programs across asset classes.
Promote a culture of transparency, empowerment, and continuous learning within the finance organization.
Qualifications & Experience
20+ years of experience in finance and accounting leadership roles within alternative asset management, banking, or related financial services.
Deep technical expertise in fund accounting, financial controls, valuation, and product control across multiple asset classes.
Experience overseeing multi-asset platform controllership and/or accounting for large, established global investment organizations.
Proven success managing complex financial operations supporting new products, investment vehicles, or business lines.
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory reporting frameworks applicable to alternative investments.
Demonstrated leadership in finance transformation, system modernization, and process standardization.
Exceptional communication, analytical, and influencing skills, with the gravitas to partner effectively with senior executives and regulators
CPA, CFA and/or MBA strongly preferred
Pay Range

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on personal, team, and Firm performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
