Our Brand Creative team works to refine and grow Coursera's brand, aiming to engage learners worldwide through outstanding marketing across various platforms. Our writers and designers  collaborate to support Coursera's main areas, including individual learners, businesses, universities, governments, and degree programs, so that anyone, anywhere can access world-class learning. 

Understanding the needs of a rapidly changing job market, where learning new skills and earning recognized credentials are essential for career development, we focus on creating a brand messaging and expression system that inspires and motivates learners throughout their personal and professional lives. As a Senior Copywriter, you’ll play a vital role in crafting narratives for marketing campaigns that elevate our brand and connect with our audience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in copywriting and brand strategy, with experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and scale creative output effectively. In this role, you’ll collaborate proactively across teams to drive creative initiatives and deliver impactful results through a thoughtful blend of innovation and best practices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Creative Strategy: Develop compelling storytelling strategies that align with Coursera’s brand voice, resonate with target audiences, and advance long-term brand goals, grounded in insights from market trends, data analysis, and audience research.
  • Writing Excellence: Apply copywriting best practices while delivering innovative solutions that enhance the quality and effectiveness of brand and product messaging across diverse channels.
  • AI-Enhanced Production: Integrate AI tools into daily workflows to scale copy concepts and build prompt frameworks that reflect Coursera’s brand voice.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally to incorporate multiple stakeholder perspectives and collaborate closely with design to ensure alignment on project goals, provide strong creative recommendations, and achieve shared objectives.
  • Marketing & Product Acumen: Leverage a deep understanding of marketing principles and Coursera’s product offerings to make informed, strategic recommendations that meet both business and audience needs.
  • Innovation: Champion innovation by contributing impactful ideas, anticipating industry trends, and offering fresh perspectives on marketing and content strategy.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or a relevant certificate in copywriting or content creation.
  • 5+ years of professional copywriting experience in an agency or in-house environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing creative briefs and campaign concepts across multiple digital channels (e.g., web, social, email, paid media).
  • Experience using AI or automation tools to support copy workflows, streamline production, and scale creative output.
  • Portfolio showcasing a range of marketing and advertising campaigns that illustrate creative storytelling, brand alignment, and measurable performance outcomes.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with in-house creative, marketing, and product teams to deliver integrated campaign messaging.
  • Background in education technology, e-learning, or mission-driven organizations focused on learner engagement.
  • Experience editing and optimizing content based on performance data, user engagement insights, or A/B testing results.

Compensation

This role is available in the following US Pay Zones:

Zone 3:  $108,000 - $135,000

Zone 4:  $100,000 - $125,000

 

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
