The Role

This position is for a Senior Compliance Monitoring Officer within Howden. The role focuses on delivering compliance monitoring activities across multiple business units, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and internal governance frameworks.

You will lead and perform both BAU monitoring and thematic reviews, assessing policies, procedures, systems, and controls. The role involves composing detailed reports with findings and suggestions, guaranteeing the precision and efficiency of compliance controls and metrics.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan for the operating unit.

  • Resolve work priorities and activities aligned with compliance objectives.

  • Deliver distinct elements of the Compliance Monitoring Framework and Plan.

  • Liaise with Compliance Business Partners, Internal Audit, and other stakeholders.

  • Conduct monitoring reviews and thematic assessments across business units.

  • Identify and recommend improvements to improve compliance frameworks.

  • Manage remediation plans and follow-up actions for identified compliance risks.

  • Prepare and present reports detailing findings and recommendations.

  • Provide mentorship and support to business units during busy periods.

  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned monitoring activities.

Who We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in compliance monitoring or a similar role.

  • Knowledge of FCA regulations and governance frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.

  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies.

  • Strong understanding of compliance principles, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder leadership skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal capabilities.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

  • Skilled in preparing clear, concise reports and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Professional compliance qualification (desirable).
