Board Solutions is a central team within NXP’s GOE organization responsible for design, manufacturing, compliance and supply chain operations of hardware boards. The organization provides hardware solutions to all business units within NXP through its global presence in North America, Europe, and Asia. Board types include customer reference design, silicon validation, failure analysis, and reliability applications.
The team is looking for a Senior CAD Engineer to design and implement high quality, robust, and state of the art board hardware for a wide range of businesses and targeted verticals. The individual is responsible for all aspects of the product from the R&D design stage, production support, and sustaining engineering as needed for CAD activities.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior PCB Layout Engineer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing high-performance, complex Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for multiple -critical applications, including high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams (hardware, SoC, Applications, end customers, mechanical, and manufacturing) to deliver cutting-edge electronic products while ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
In this position, the candidate will also be responsible for driving ensuring the design solutions are consistent with the company strategy, commitments and goals. The position is based out of the India and the individual will work in conjunction with our other design centers in Romania, Mexico, China, and US to ensure high quality solutions realized for our end customers.
Job responsibilities:
- Design and layout of complex, multi-layer PCBs for high-reliability applications (automotive, Industrial, IoT etc).
- Work with schematic inputs from electrical engineers to translate designs into optimized PCB layouts.
- Ensure compliance with IPC, JEDEC, and customer-specific standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-6012).
- Implement advanced techniques: high-speed routing (LPDDR4/LPDDR5, PCIe, USB3.0+), impedance control, differential pairs, and HDI (High-Density Interconnect) designs.
- Create detailed documentation: fabrication drawings, assembly notes, and stackup specifications.
- Manage constraints: signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, thermal management, and mechanical constraints.
- Participate in reviews of schematics and layouts to improve products across the Hardware Solutions team
- Provide design expertise and regional support for BU silicon, application teams, and third parties as needed.
- Partner with: Hardware Engineers: Resolve design conflicts, optimize component placement, and validate schematics, Mechanical Engineers: Align PCB with enclosure constraints , Manufacturing Team Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability to avoid any issue in manufacturing.
- Ensure board designs are cost effective for their intended applications.
- Provide technical oversight into the design team with respect to proper PCB layout design and best practices.
- Ability to work independently and in a design team environment.
- Improve core competency in layout design technologies.
- Engage and provide consultation to external customers on layout design and best practices. Perform critical design reviews for key customer accounts as needed.

- Hands-on experience on Analog & Digital circuit, PMIC, Microcontrollers, Microprocessor based designs.
- Knowledge of LPDDR4, LPDDR5, Ethernet, PCIe, USB, UART, I2C, SPI, CAN, SDHC, eMMC, other high-speed serial and parallel interfaces layout.
- High Speed Digital, Mixed signal, RF upto 80Ghz, High/Low Power PMIC, Reliability boards , EMC/ESD Boards etc.,
- Debug and troubleshoot layout-related issues.
- Coordination with suppliers, Fab house, Engineering team for corrections and suggestion made at various stages.
Education and Experience:
- Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
- 12+ years of layout design experience
- Exposure and design experience in Consumer, Automotive, Networking, Wireless and/or Industrial applications is a plus.
- Technical knowledge and/or experience in Layout Design & Manufacturing preferred.
- Strong inter-personal and written & oral communication skills.
