The Senior Business Development Consultant position is a key role operating in the UAE market; with responsibility for driving considerable new business growth. 

The role will require significant face to face business engagement with top producing IPMI brokers and/or direct clients facilitating strong and consistent sales growth. The selected candidate will be the day-to-day face of Bupa Global and have sound commercial acumen, be an effective communicator, possess advanced presentation skills, be a credible business enabler and have a strong track record of auditable business growth in the healthcare market.

The candidate will also manage a team and will have direct oversight of the day to day performance of the team as well as KPIs.

The role is pivotal in developing new commercial opportunity, gathering robust data to assist in future planning cycles; as well have competitor and market insights. 

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • Prepare, design, implement New Business development plans and strategies
  • Proactively develop strong relationships with intermediaries and direct clients, taking full ownership & accountability for the generation of profitable business
  • Develop a robust pipeline of appropriate new business opportunities and optimize by ensuring broker/client engagement to meet business targets and objectives.
  • Conduct profit reviews to identify areas for improvement and lead conversations with brokers to agree actions to optimise profitability
  • Review progress of initiatives against plan and take remedial action as appropriate
  • Build, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including all key customers and networks to deliver strategy and increase business opportunities.
  • Effectively promote and deploy Bupa’s strategy, product range, propositions, and key differentiators to leverage commercial opportunities.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset and work with your colleagues to identify improvements and transform great ideas into tangible implementation steps to drive the business forward.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of sales representatives, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Conduct monthly 1:1s, bi-annual and annual performance reviews of team members alongside our T&C framework.
  • Manage all tasks through effective time management, planning, and prioritising workloads to maintain an effective and functional service level.
  • Always maintain the highest quality and service standards in line with criteria set by the Management Team, FCA and Compliance.
  • Constantly analyse, improve, and develop performance against set objectives through online learning and development initiatives and maximise knowledge and ability putting new skills into practice.
  • Build professional and lasting relationships with team colleagues and other departments within the Bupa Group, maintaining open communication channels to promote the Broker Sales Team in a positive light.
  • Always comply and abide by the requirements of the Data Protection Act and those of the FOS and FCA.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • 5+ years sales experience, with proven Sales track record in the UAE Health Insurance and International PMI arena. Knowledge of new business processes are essential
  • Knowledgeable in the UAE regulatory landscape.
  • Experience in working with CRM systems.
  • Excellent PC skills are essential including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written & spoken English, Arabic will be an advantage
  • ACII qualification or equivalent preferable
  • Exposure to Regional markets and regulatory space an added plus.
  • Highly motivated with excellent organizational skills, and strategic mindset
  • Excellent deal structuring and negotiation ability, with an analytical capability
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently or as a team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Excellent presentation skills, along with verbal and written communication ability
  • Competent to work strategically with matrix partners across the business
  • Highly motivated and capable of working autonomously, while still being a team-player
  • Good understanding of health insurance end-to-end value chain and risk management principles
  • Collaborative mindset and able to partner across the firm
  • Ability to travel in the region as required
  • Multi-lingual speaker preferred but not essential.
