As a Senior Azure Cloud Site Reliability Engineer at our company, you will take ownership of ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of our Azure-based cloud infrastructure. This enhanced role requires expertise in security compliance, configuration management, vulnerability management, and advanced Azure operational practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain reliable systems, implement automation, and drive continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will define and monitor metrics, optimize system performance, and lead proactive efforts to prevent outages or security vulnerabilities. They will troubleshoot complex challenges, lead cross-functional initiatives, and implement best practices for reliability and security.
This role demands excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, as you will work closely with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain the stability of our enterprise systems.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with development, build, and architecture teams to design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure Azure-based solutions.
Define and maintain Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to measure and optimize system performance and availability.
Proactively monitor system performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and other tools to detect and resolve bottlenecks before they impact operations.
Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, SOC 2, and PCI DSS by implementing Azure-native security controls.
Manage security configurations using tools like Azure Security Center, Azure Policy, and Microsoft Defender for Cloud to minimize risks.
Conduct regular vulnerability scans with tools such as Qualys, Azure Defender, or Nessus, and prioritize remediation efforts based on criticality.
Lead patch management processes for Azure-based workloads, including virtual machines, containers, and Kubernetes clusters.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM templates, and Bicep to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.
Automate operational tasks, incident responses, and compliance reporting using Azure Automation, PowerShell, and Python.
Enforce configuration baselines with Azure Policy, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and Ansible to maintain system integrity.
Act as an escalation point for complex incidents, leading root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution efforts.
Manage incident response processes, document post-incident reviews, and implement lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
Conduct chaos engineering experiments to test system resilience and improve fault tolerance.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing expertise in Azure SRE principles, security best practices, and automation techniques.
Collaborate across teams to design and implement solutions that optimize reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
Actively participate in Agile workflows, contributing to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stakeholder updates.
Stay current with emerging Azure technologies, tools, and best practices to drive innovation in cloud operations.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities, ensuring efficient use of Azure resources.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications are highly desirable:
Work experience:
Minimum 4-7 years of experience in SRE, cloud engineering, or similar roles, with deep expertise in Azure cloud environments.
Proven experience in security compliance, vulnerability management, and configuration management within large-scale cloud infrastructures.
Advanced knowledge of core Azure services, including Virtual Machines (VMs), App Services, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, and Load Balancers.
Strong proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for automation workflows.
Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (Azure Defender, Qualys, Nessus) and patch management strategies.
Expertise in monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Grafana, Prometheus) with strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar.

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
