To support the advancement of our antibody discovery and development efforts, argenx is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on (senior) associate scientist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and supporting the validation of cutting-edge ML/AI tools, as well as optimizing and implementing new workflows in protein production, potency, and affinity assessments across the R&D pipeline.

Main roles & responsibilities

· Provide hands-on training and support for colleagues on chromatographic workstations, new protein production workflows and affinity measurements ensuring seamless adoption and optimal use of these technologies.

· Develop and implement optimized workflows for protein production, potency, and affinity assessments, ensuring that these processes are efficient, reliable, and aligned with our research goals.

· Train and support new colleagues in the adoption of new workflows and technologies, ensuring a smooth handover and minimal disruption to our research activities.

· Collaborate with our Bio-IT team to validate and optimize AI tools, focusing on their practical application in the lab and potential to drive meaningful improvements in antibody discovery and development.

· Work closely with colleagues to assess the effectiveness of new workflows and AI tools, identifying areas for optimization and providing recommendations for implementation.

· Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and methods, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and contributing to our team's ongoing innovation and improvement.

Professional experience / expertise

· Understanding of laboratory techniques and methodologies, including protein purification, characterization, and analysis.

· Hands-on experience with chromatographic workstations, protein production workflows and biophysical techniques (BLI, SPR, ITC, HPLC) is a plus.

Profile:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology).

· Keen to learn AI tools and machine learning concepts and how they can augment existing workflows.

· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.

· A results-driven approach, motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible impact on our research activities and contribute to the discovery and development of novel therapeutics.

· Ability to think critically and creatively, with a passion for optimizing workflows and improving laboratory processes.
