Sanofi is seeking a motivated Senior Associate Scientist to support the development of advanced ocular in vitro models that drive innovation across the Ophthalmology research pipeline. As part of the Advanced Ocular In Vitro Models group, you will contribute to the establishment of physiologically relevant models for retinal diseases, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other vision-related indications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to apply these models in disease research, therapeutic screening, and mechanistic studies. Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the optimization and implementation of differentiation protocols for iPSC-derived ocular cell types (e.g., RPE, RGCs, endothelial cells, microglia).

  • Advance the scalability and efficiency of cell culture and differentiation platforms through the integration of automation technologies.

  • Evaluate and implement innovative model systems (e.g., co-cultures, organoids, organ-on-chip).

  • Apply in vitro models to study disease mechanisms, validate targets, and assess therapeutic efficacy and safety.

  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams in a matrixed research environment.

  • Document and present scientific findings to support project milestones.

About You

  • Earned Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering or other relevant field with 3+ years OR Master’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering or other relevant field with 1+ years of relevant experience preferably in biotech/pharmaceutical setting.

  • Hands-on experience with iPSC culture and differentiation is required. Experience within ocular cell types is highly preferred.

  • Experience with automated cell culture systems or protocol optimization.

  • Expertise with molecular and imaging techniques (e.g., qPCR, immunocytochemistry, high-content imaging).

  • Familiarity with high-throughput assay development using iPSC-derived cells is highly preferred.

  • Familiarity with bioengineering approaches focused on cellular systems, microfluidics, and/or translational research is preferred.

  • Experience with computational tools (e.g., R, Python) for data analysis.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in effectively presenting scientific data in a matrixed environment.

  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, lab notebook practices, and attention to detail.

The salary range for this position is:

$73,500.00 - $106,166.66
