Senior Analyst – Expense Management

Office of the CFO | Sydney CBD | Hybrid work

  • We’re looking for a Senior Analyst to join our expense management team within the Office of the CFO — a high-impact, high-exposure role where you’ll work directly with senior stakeholders, including the Group CFO.

  • This isn’t just expense reporting. It’s true expense management — partnering with cost centre owners to understand cost structures, contracts, and operational drivers. You’ll help shape decisions across BAU, budgeting, and the Group’s three-year financial plan.

  • We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

  • This role is available for a period of 12 Months

About the role

The expenses team is a specialist subset of the broader performance and analytics team, comprising senior analysts, a manager, senior manager and a head of performance & analytics. The team works collaboratively across all business areas and partners with a wide range of senior stakeholders.

While the team supports the full Group, you’ll likely take the lead on one or two key business areas — giving you ownership and visibility from day one.

As a Senior Analyst you’ll be a trusted business partner to Senior Management and stakeholders supporting them with reporting, analysis, and insights around expenses.

What you’ll be doing

  • Produce and present monthly expense management insights to senior stakeholders, including cost centre owners, finance leads and the leadership team

  • Drive a forward-looking focus through rolling forecasts and strategic planning of the Group’s expense base

  • Analyse performance against budget and forecast, and prepare insightful commentary

  • Lead expense discussions during annual budget formulation and forecasting cycles

  • Prepare annual budgets, including stakeholder engagement, presentation of outcomes and budget management

  • Support half-year and full-year reporting, including analyst pack metrics and market disclosures

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, including automation of reporting and analysis.

What we’re looking for

This role would suit someone with a background in FP&A, commercial finance or financial control who’s ready to step into a more strategic, forward-looking role.

You’ll also bring:

  • CA/CPA (or equivalent) with 2+ years post-qualification experience

  • Strong financial accounting knowledge and analytical skills

  • Advanced Excel and familiarity with finance systems and data query tools

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Impeccable attention to detail and a proactive mindset

  • Experience with platforms like Anaplan, Workiva, Workday or Power BI is advantageous

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Work directly with stakeholders and understand operational drivers

  • Are curious about the “why” behind the numbers — not just what

  • Want to influence decisions and contribute to broader business performance

Why join us?

  • Real exposure: work within the Office of the CFO, partnering with senior leaders across the business

  • Strategic impact: influence decisions across cost, planning and performance

  • Growth potential: step into a broader platform with pathways beyond expenses - including revenue and commercial finance roles
