Senior Anaesthetic Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner

Cromwell Hospital London, SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground.)

Permanent

£44,806 to £53,051 per annum, plus fantastic benefits

Full Time 37.5 hrs per week

Monday to Saturday plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 6 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Da Vinci Surgery, Thoracic and Liver, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

You’ll help us make health happen by:

Your role as a Senior Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP is ensure that we provide the best quality.
The senior anaesthetic practitioner, will provide clinical leadership, act as a mentor and role model, and lead multidisciplinary team in the absence of the team leader. You’ll also be responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the anaesthetic team and to participate in the assessment of patient care needs, implement and maintain agreed standards of care.

  • To support individual and team to deliver safe, high quality and effective patient care that is responsive to the needs of our patient.
  • Coordinate the management of the clinical area when delegated. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in emergency or unforeseen situations.
  • To have good leadership qualities, and good communication skills and to lead by example.
  • Participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
  • Participate in the robust reporting of incidents and comply with any ensuing investigations.
  • Assist the team leaders in the Personal Development Plans of junior staff
  • Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role

  • You must hold a relevant OPD / Anaesthetic Nurse qualification (HCPC / ADULT RGN), RN – 1ST level
  • Diploma or Degree in Health Care Studies
  • Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics.
  • Evidence of Professional and Personal Development.
