What is the focus of the role?

The Senior Acquisition Sales Specialist will lead the Security Sales activities in the nominated Accounts/Territories of each Seller. This includes all business development efforts across client relationship building & management, account security strategy, account planning, partner eco-system management, CRM management, stakeholder (internal & external) management, deal support, development and execution of close plans, support enablement activity, contribute to broader security marketing efforts and support Telstra Security brand and reputation in market.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Acquisition Sales Specialist, you will be an experienced sales professional with a strong background in complex security sales engagements. Your business development knowledge and strong client partnering will allow you to drive successful security revenue, contribute to EBITDA and deliver on key go-to-market strategies.  

This is a customer-facing role responsible for driving cybersecurity sales and engagement within Enterprise accounts thus preference will be given to Canberra and Sydney based candidates. 

 
Your key responsibilities for this role will involve:

  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders across customer organizations—from C-level executives to operational teams—to understand their business challenges and position Telstra Security solutions effectively.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans, manage client relationships end-to-end, coordinate with internal stakeholders, and drive opportunity close plans to achieve sales targets.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key security technology partners, including their sales, channel, and technical teams. Engage in joint account planning, identify collaborative sales opportunities, and align with partner qualification frameworks such as MEDDICC.
  • Provide expert support to other Telstra sales teams on security-related opportunities, including assistance with bids, technical inputs, commercial structuring, and deal closure.
  • Own and manage Security Account Plans for all target customers within your territory. Accurately forecast and track sales opportunities, meet reporting requirements, and maintain data integrity within Telstra’s CRM platform, Phoenix.
  • Represent Telstra at industry events, roundtables, and thought leadership sessions to drive business development and enhance brand visibility.
  •  Contribute to the evolution of Telstra’s security sales capability by leading initiatives focused on solution design, negotiation strategies, and sales delivery improvements.

​​About You 

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Extensive Cybersecurity Sales Experience: Minimum of five years in enterprise-level cybersecurity sales, with a strong track record of success.
  • Proven Ability to Sell Complex Solutions: Demonstrated success in selling sophisticated cybersecurity products and services to large, multifaceted organizations.
  • Executive-Level Engagement: Skilled in building relationships and influencing C-level executives and senior decision-makers.
  • Strategic Account Management: Capable of leading and managing large-scale customer engagements focused on cybersecurity needs and outcomes.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Experience working effectively with key technology partners to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders, particularly the Telstra client partner community, to develop strategies and address customer requirements.
