Senior Accountant

Overview:
The role of Sr. Accountant within the SEC Reporting Group requires the individual to perform procedures critical to ensuring Mastercard's financial statements are accurate and complete. Certain skill sets are required for the role, including exercising accounting judgment, professional skepticism, and an understanding and appreciation of the importance of controls.

Role:
• Prepare the balance sheet, income statement and statement of other comprehensive income, support the completion of the statement of cash flow and all footnotes, and coordinate the quarterly review process
• Coordinate and assist in the tie out of the filing documents in multiple stages of the process
• Facilitate the internal management representation and certification process
• Maintain knowledge of new FASB and SEC reporting rules and regulations
• Maintain the quarterly U.S. GAAP Automated Disclosure Checklist
• Coordinate major reporting dates and maintain the financial reporting calendar
• Special projects as needed to support the Accounting and Financial Reporting functions
• Assist in accounting research and benchmarking as needed, especially as it relates to financial reporting and disclosures
• Liaise with Investor Relations including periodic investor meetings and ad hoc requests
• Communicate with Internal SEC Counsel on a regular basis in support of SEC filings
• EDGAR/XBRL filings
• Focus on automation solutions and streamlining manual processes
• Coordinate and review the annual proxy statement and validate all related financial support
• Liaise with the external and internal auditors for testing requests
• Maintain all files and documents for SOX controls over the financial reporting process
• Support the SOX Group’s testing of internal controls

All About You:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting highly preferred and designation of Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
• Experience in financial reporting and accounting at the experienced staff or senior level (public accounting experience preferred)
• Financial reporting knowledge
• Strong analytical skills
• Proficient PC skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Hyperion, Oracle and Workiva a plus
• Good communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Team player and able to work independently in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
