Job Description:
Coordinate and oversee day-to-day security operations, ensuring the safety and security of the hospital, patients, visitors, and staff.
Develop and implement security plans, policies, and procedures to detect and deter threats directed at the hospital, its patients, visitors, and staff.
Maintain a working knowledge of current security protocols, tools, hardware, and software, and ensure their effective utilization within the department.
Monitor security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems, to identify and address potential security threats.
Stay informed about current security threats and trends and adjust security plans, policies, and procedures as necessary.
Provide operational guidance and support to security department personnel to train and equip them to perform their assigned duties in accordance with accepted security protocols and procedures.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and implement training and development programs to enhance the team's skills and capabilities.
Assign shifts, schedule personnel, and manage resources effectively to always ensure appropriate coverage of security operations.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
Develop and implement emergency response plans, ensuring readiness for various scenarios, such as active threats, fires, natural disasters, medical emergencies, and security incidents.
Conduct drills, exercises, and training programs to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of security personnel and other hospital staff.
Coordinate with external agencies, such as law enforcement and emergency services, to establish effective collaboration and response protocols.
Keep the Director of Security informed about all departmental conditions, incidents, and developments on an ongoing basis.
Assume the responsibilities and duties of the Director in their absence, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted security operations.
Support the Director in providing briefings and reports to executive management, conveying security updates, initiatives, and recommendations.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Federal law enforcement officer, Series 1811, a certified peace officer, or experienced security management professional with at least 3-5 years of experience in security operations and management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Expertise in security tactics, training, and emergency response protocols.
Working knowledge of current security protocols, tools, hardware, and software.
Excellent leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification is a plus.
