In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Emergency and Protective Services Department currently has a Security Clearance Specialist position available.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
The Security Clearance Specialist is responsible for reviewing and obtaining all required documentation to submit clearance forms to Police Agencies and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service in order to meet Regulatory requirements. The Security Clearance Specialist must demonstrate excellent attention to detail and good computer skills in order to identify inconsistencies within Security Clearance forms and accurately transfer information to Security Clearance databases efficiently. The Security Clearance Specialist is responsible for maintenance of the Personnel Information Management system and associated equipment that allows site access and protected area access. Security Clearance Specialists also manage the Public Agent Authorization process for Nuclear Response Team members and must demonstrate exemplary Bruce Power behaviours in management of personal information.
What you will responsible for?
Provide a variety of electronic and or manual record management and document control support functions to meet legal, corporate and regulatory requirements.
Process, distribute and track documentation which could include sensitive material as per established procedures.
Analyze and verify details ensuring that timelines and accuracy are met including required follow up as necessary.
Operate and maintain an electronic database, including sending notifications once clearances’ are approved.
Apply appropriate procedures in the handling of confidential information with due regard to the sensitivity and security of such information.
Assist the responsible manager in identifying inaccuracies in information received.
Provide an effective liaison with HR contacts, contract administrators, external customers, union halls, CNSC, CSIS and Police Agencies in order to ensure accuracy and completeness of applicant information to mitigate delays in receiving required information and timely processing of security clearance documentation
Perform quality checks and self-assessments on documents according to established procedures in order to very appropriate processing and handling of information.
Assist the Manager in responding to audit findings as required.
Prepare status reports and statistical data as required.
As required obtain, record and maintain in an electronic database, information required to authorize access into the protected area.
Take photographs and operate company identification card processing equipment on site and in remote locations in order to produce ID cards for company personnel.
Issue security and vehicle passes to authorized personnel and maintain data and photographs in security department files.
Ensure a backup record is retained for authorized staff.
Maintain the inner area authorization log.
Operate a computer as required to input, operate, maintain and retrieve various information such as, vehicle and visitor information as well as liaising with various site personnel in order to obtain required information.
Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires a good knowledge of computer principles and languages, programming and techniques in the development of new methods, processes and procedures
Requires knowledge of various computer applications and programs, including keyboarding skills to carry-out the assigned work
Requires knowledge of English to communicate both orally and in writing to use and prepare reports
Requires the ability to work with confidential personal information and maintain privacy
Requires experience in a Nuclear setting to be familiar with the responsibilities, procedures and regulations associated with the position
Requires a sound understanding of the various departmental, divisional and site policies and procedures that would have an impact on maintaining a nuclear generating station in a security environment
Requires experience in producing procedures, processes and programs in the area of security clearance
Requires experience in operating a keyboard, computer applications and programs in the development of security related procedures.
Successful candidate will be required to obtain a Level 2 Security Clearance
Education and Experience
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired in and equivalent to a Grade XII education in a secondary school plus intermediate related courses
A period of over two years, up to and including three years, is considered necessary to gain this experience
