Hiscox is hiring a skilled and highly motivated Scrum Master to support and grow effective lean-agile ways of working across our value streams.
As part of London Market technology team, and reporting to the Head of Technology Strategy and Delivery, you will join a team an established Agile community of practice, and will be accountable for the effectiveness of one or more squads. As a Scrum Master, you will play a crucial role in driving the effectiveness of our agile development processes for maximizing business value across varied value streams.
Within this business-critical coordination role you will:
Guide on how to use lean-agile values, principles and practices to delight customers and deliver value to our business.
Champion an environment for performance built on psychological safety, trust, agency, communication, and transparency.
Enable effective flow of value from idea to done through strong Kanban principles and practices.
Ensure the squad maintains effective working practices, with all events taking place in a positive and productive manner.
Support the change team (Product Managers and Product Owners) in establishing empirical product planning within a complex environment.
Assess the maturity of squads, value streams, and the wider organisation in lean-agile ways of working, and coach towards higher maturity at a sustainable pace.
Facilitate systems thinking to help teams and leaders see the value stream, eliminate waste, and prioritise effectiveness over utilisation.
Facilitate an inclusive, experiment-based approach to change and continuous improvement.
Guide hypothesis-led experimentation and use metrics (e.g. SPACE, DORA) to measure impact.
Drive the removal of impediments and coach the team to resolve blockers independently.
Collaborate with the Agile community of practice to support continuous learning, share knowledge, and mature the organisation’s lean-agile ways of working.
Required skills/experience
Experience in performing a Scrum Master or agile coaching role for a development team that was diligently applying lean-agile principles, practices and theory.
Excellent skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment and increasing transparency.
Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on fostering a positive and empowered team culture.
Deep understanding of lean-agile principles and the benefits to product delivery.
