What you will do:

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of new vector systems for the expression of complex therapeutic proteins in CHO cells.

  • Culture mammalian cell lines in flask-based and scaled-down plate formats, performing associated analytical procedures as required.

  • Work alongside other scientists to plan, execute, and analyze experiments using the Tecan Automated Liquid Handler.

  • Liaise with service providers, SMEs and technical support to troubleshoot equipment including automated liquid handling platforms.

  • Collate, analyze, evaluate and document data in a timely and traceable manner (e.g., electronic notebooks, slide decks).

  • Present and discuss experimental findings in team/project meetings.

  • Seek innovative improvements to vector library screening workflows, including the adoption of automation and novel technologies.

  • Stay current with academic literature relevant to CHO biology, vector engineering and emerging screening methodologies.

  • Contribute positively to team working and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-moving R&D environment.

What we are looking for:

  • BSc/MSc in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.

  • Practical experience with CHO cell culture and/or cell line development process optimization in academia or industry.

  • Hands-on experience with automated liquid handlers is beneficial but not essential (training can be provided).

  • Strong data recording, analysis and interpretation skills.

  • Ability to adapt plans based on experimental results and contribute to decision-making in a dynamic research setting.

  • A collaborative, proactive and curious mindset.

Approximate Workload Breakdown:

  • Laboratory Experimental Work: ~80%

  • Data Recording & Analysis: ~10%

  • Lab Maintenance: ~5%

  • Overhead (training, meetings, personal development): ~5%
