Job Description
Gilead Sciences is seeking an innovative and driven Scientist to join our Inflammation Biology team in Foster City, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the discovery and development of groundbreaking therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, with an emphasis on T cell biology.
As part of a collaborative research environment, you will leverage cutting-edge technologies and novel strategies to deepen our understanding of immune regulation. This laboratory-based role is ideal for a scientist with expertise in T cell biology, in vivo modeling, and T cell engineering.
This role will report to the Senior Director, Inflammation Research.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and conduct in vitro and in vivo studies to advance understanding of T cell biology and antigen responsiveness.
Develop and assess innovative therapeutic approaches, including engineered T cells, cellular therapies, and in vivo targeting strategies.
Apply CRISPR and other gene-editing technologies to engineer T cells for research and therapeutic purposes.
Establish and refine preclinical models to evaluate immune modulation and therapeutic efficacy.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across immunology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, and bioinformatics.
Communicate findings to internal teams and leadership; contribute to publications, patents, and regulatory documentation.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and scientific literature to drive innovation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Ph.D. in immunology, molecular/cell biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline (PhD level is strongly preferred) and
2 years of postdoctoral experience is strongly preferred OR
Master’s degree with 8–10 years of relevant industry experience
Extensive expertise in T cell biology and cellular immunology.
Proven hands-on experience in T cell engineering, including CRISPR and other gene-editing platforms, as well as TCR and CAR design.
Experience with in vivo LNP delivery strongly preferred.
Familiarity with preclinical in vivo models of inflammation or autoimmunity is desirable.
Working knowledge of R or Python for data analysis is a plus.
Strong publication record with first-author papers in high-impact journals.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
