Your Role:
As a Sales Representative, you’ll create demand and secure sales by delivering and demonstrating the value of Elanco Animal Health products to direct customers and influencers. As a Territory Sales Representative, you’ll manage the territory through a yearly action plan, account plans, expense management and appropriate communications consistent with Elanco's business unit marketing and sales objectives. The sales territory consists of customers, veterinarians, nutritionists, feed companies and distribution contacts.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist and facilitate the enrollment of new Experior prospects via CRM and electronic documentation software to sign contracts and releases necessary to feed Elanco products.
- Assist and facilitate the prospect’s comfort and competency in enrolling in data sharing with Elanco, serving as a subject matter expert in the data we collect for brand stewardship. Candidate is comfortable facilitating difficult conversations with customers regarding pricing, data, and product use.
- Using our CRM platform, enter call notes, contacts, and make account changes while working collaboratively with sales representatives that own those accounts.
- Train prospective customers on data submission practices and follow up with customers at regular intervals to ensure they are compliant with data requirements. Conduct appropriate follow-up training when necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as feed companies, nutritionists, and software providers to assist in the signup of new prospects.
- Work closely with Elanco sales representatives and Elanco Knowledge Solutions to follow up on data submission across new prospects and existing customers.
- Candidate will learn and utilize other resources at the company to help advance other portions of the Elanco portfolio (product detailers, connect customers with assigned sales reps if they inquire about other feed additives or package goods).
- Candidate will efficiently organize, plan and schedule customer appointments and travel necessary for product advancement. Travel for this position is expected to be up to 75% of the time with some overnight travel necessary.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Education: Degree in or working toward a degree in Agricultural Business, Animal Science, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills in working cross functionally with external (feed companies, feedlot software companies, nutritionists) and internal stakeholders – such as sales representatives, technical consultants, Elanco Knowledge Solutions (EKS), HGS and Marketing to best advance new prospects.
- Proficiency in core computer systems (intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – primarily Microsoft Excel) and willingness to learn the functionality of feedlot accounting and feed software programs.
- Self-starter regarding work ethic; willingness to learn sales and data best practices; and willingness to uphold the core Elanco values.
Additional Information:
- Location: The position will be based in the Cattle Central Region, primarily supporting Cattle Central/Feedlot North or Cattle Central/Midwest as needed.
- Travel: 25-50%
