Job Purpose
To support the Sales Manager in planning, executing, and monitoring sales performance within a defined General Trade segment, ensuring alignment by client, brand, and SKU.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Planning
- Implementing channel and account strategies, terms and conditions and best practices within identified accounts to ensure optimal, profitable positioning for each brand/category.
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of developments in the accounts and leveraging all available opportunities for growth.
- Take ownership of maximizing business volume through effective implementation, execution, and evaluation of key sales functions to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
- Ensure successful execution of business plans, including account activity grids as agreed with the Sales Manager.
- Deliver comprehensive service, including selling, merchandising, account growth planning and implementation, relationship building, promotions, and activations.
- Drive continuous improvement in distribution, merchandising, call coverage, and efficient resource utilization from distributors and third-party agencies.
- Implement class-of-trade strategies for each brand to achieve maximum advantage within accounts.
- Schedule weekly business review meetings with the Area Sales Manager to discuss sales targets, marketing initiatives, and address challenges.
Route to Market & Distributor Management
- Ensure internal stakeholders are fully aware of marketing activities.
- Maintain clear and consistent information flow between Marketing, Market Companies, and Brand Companies.
- Provide external agencies with the necessary support and resources to achieve project objectives.
Brand Execution & Activations
- Ensure comprehensive brand training and understanding among all partners and their teams, including prioritization of key initiatives.
- Collaborate with marketing and trade marketing teams to develop tailored plans for each market.
- Influence consumer promotional strategies and oversee execution through third-party agencies or distributor teams, in partnership with the marketing team.
Compliance
- Ensure all third-party partners comply with the company’s Code of Business Conduct applicable to their geographic area.
- Ensure third-party sales teams understand and adhere to alcohol policy and procedures relevant to the defined geographic area.
Key Competencies and Experience
Minimum Educational Requirements and Work Experience:
- 3–5 years of proven experience in the FMCG industry (FMCG background strongly preferred).
- Must be based in Nairobi or Eldoret, with flexibility to travel as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant qualifications from a recognized and accredited university.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
