Overview:

Sentara is hiring an RN Patient Care Supervisor to work at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital located in Virginia Beach.  Preferred candidates will have ICU or ED experience. 

Hours/Shift:

  • 24 hours of 7a - 7pm and 12 hours of 7pm - 7am per week.
  • Full Time, 36 hours per week​

Department/Position Overview: 

The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the healthcare facility during their shift, ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and staff efficiency. This position serves as the primary liaison between departments, providing leadership, direction, and support to nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers. The Supervisor is also tasked with coordinating patient flow, managing staffing levels, responding to emergencies, and addressing any operational issues that may arise throughout their shift.

  • Responsible and accountable for administratively managing the hospital as the representative for the administrator on call.
  • Possesses proficient clinical skills and serves as a resource to nursing staff, physicians, and the public.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate appropriate and efficient patient placement.
  • Makes administrative decisions (in consultation with administrator on call, as needed) in regard to potential or actual problematic situations involving the hospital.
  • May be responsible to coordinate patient care resources.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to resolve problems in an efficient and caring manner.
  • Exercise leadership skills through effective work coordination, management of resources, and participation in goal accomplishment.

Education:

  • BSN from an accredited school

Certification/Licensure:

  • Virginia or compact multistate RN (Registered Nurse) license in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire
  • De-escalation and physical intervention training within 90 days of hire

Experience:

  • Two years’ nursing experience and one year of nursing leadership
  • Intensive Care (ICU) and Emergency Room (ER) experience
