Job Description:
Collaborates with nursing leadership organization-wide to establish, define, and refine organization and department goals consistent with organizational mission and goals
Collaboration/Conflict: Effectively investigates, evaluates, and responds to patient/family complaints and takes effective measures to address concerns and communicate back to family and director. Demonstrates flexibility and a willingness to work toward a mutually beneficial resolution to challenges and seeks win-win conclusions for all involved.
Family-Centered Care: Performs post discharge phone calls to assess satisfaction as needed and evaluate effectiveness of discharge planning and education. Assist with the interview and selection process for chaplaincy program. Assist with enrollment of patients in school to help patients meet their educational needs while in the hospital.
Leadership: Maintains an effective working relationship within and between departments, physicians, and other disciplines in the development of processes to effectively coordinate and or integrates services. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team through rounds or patient care staffing’s to examine, design, or revise processes aimed at effectively providing patient care. Assists DON and ADON, with management and guidance of all RNs and support staff on the unit. Assists with interviews, coaching of staff, and meaningful recognition.
Professional Accountability: Accepts accountability for own behavior and development and learns from mistakes. Maintains knowledge and skills required to effectively perform specific role through, continuing education, active participation in hospital committees or task forces. Quality/Performance Improvement: Actively participates in PI and Joint Commission/CMS requirements that are aimed at improving coordination of patient care, discharge planning and patient/ family satisfaction.
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred
Holds a current Texas RN license or is eligible for a temporary permit from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice professional nursing
Minimum 4 years of experience with 2 years supervisory experience or demonstrated management skills
American Heart Association, BLS
PALS certification, or obtained within 6 months of hire
