About the role
We’re looking for a Specialist, Operational Risk Management (ORM) to join our growing team!
As a Specialist (ORM), you will support the Manager and Director, Operational Risk, to build effective business partner relationships as it relates to ORM with a focus on Third Party Risk Management (TPRM). You will provide consultation, review and independent challenge to ensure operational risks are identified and sufficiently mitigated through a prudent and methodological approach. This position requires an innovative insurance professional with a high degree of initiative, flexibility and tenacity.
What you’ll do here:
Contribute to the operational risk management program and enhancement of its maturity while ensuring the use of tools and technologies that maximize efficiency.
Support business units in the identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of their operational risks.
Review and challenge of risk management activities in an effective manner.
Coordinate, support, and challenge risk & control assessments.
Ensure proper incident management and resolution, including any lessons learned through further analysis.
Assist in the maintenance of our operational risk policies and operational risk appetite framework.
Advise on potential changes to processes and suggest any further mitigating action.
Ensure coordination between the lines of defense related to operational risks and promote appropriate information sharing across and within.
Assist in the development and implementation of analytics and risk reporting capability.
Engage stakeholders to promote a strong risk culture and ensure proper training and support on operational risk processes and tools.
Assist in the operational risk reporting cycle and operation of the quarterly Compliance and Operational Risk Committee.
What you bring to the table:
Minimum 3 years experience in operational risk management as part of the second line of defense – is required, or combinations of experience in risk management, compliance, internal/external audit, control development or testing etc. may be considered.
Strong professional business acumen and knowledge of principles, techniques, current trends, best practices, regulations, policies, and programs related to risk management – is required.
Knowledge of insurance operations and related risks and opportunities.
A commitment to lifelong learning and high performance fueling your ability to make an impact.
A solutions-oriented mindset, with critical thinking and professional judgement proficiency and strong aptitude for decision making.
Collaboration, influencing, conflict resolution and stakeholder relationship building skills.
Proven written communication skills.
Confidence interacting with senior management and understanding of / experience working within the three lines of defense model.
High level of engagement, authenticity, and accountability.
Bilingual (English and French) considered an asset.
