State Street’s Centralized Modeling, Analytics and Operations (CMAO) provides quantitative modeling and analytical development expertise to service Financial Risk and Global Treasury. We operate our Risk Analytic Library, a modern model development platform, to develop and execute models. We also support and operate several third-party platforms for business processes. We provide macroeconomic scenarios to various forecasting including CECL, CCAR and Quarterly Stress Testing. We provide reporting, data governance and system change management for Financial Risk as well as 2nd line data risk management for Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).

Risk Analytics Library team is seeking a software engineer to innovate the design and implementation of a cutting-edge quantitative library that will revolutionize the way we analyze and process financial data. The ideal candidate should have strong background in software engineering, as well as methodologies and analysis

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications, APIs, and backend services
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and analysts to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
  • Support data processing and analytics workflows, including integration with quantitative models and tools
  • Contribute to testing, deployment automation, and continuous integration pipelines.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and ongoing improvements to development practices

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or more advanced degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in software development, preferably in data-centric environments
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Proficient in Python and relevant Python libraries and tools for quantitative analysis (e.g., NumPy, pandas).
  • Experience with version control (Git) and basic CI/CD tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to financial services, risk analytics, or regulatory reporting is a plus
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Svelte) is helpful but not required.
  • Interest in working in cross-functional teams and engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
