Revenue Audit Supervisor

Under the direction of the Manager, Operations- Tribal Finance, the Supervisor, Revenue Audit- Tribal Finance oversees the daily execution of audit activities within the Revenue Audit section of accounting. Ensures the accurate recording, verification, and posting of transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards. Supports compliance with National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC), Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and Gaming Commission Regulations, and contributes to the development of audit procedures and staff training while maintaining audit integrity and operational efficiency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Supervises audit staff to ensure revenue cycle audits are completed accurately and timely. Assigns audit tasks based on staff schedules, skill levels, and operational needs, ensuring equitable distribution and coverage across audit areas.
2.    Reviews audit workpapers and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy; provides signoffs and constructive feedback to staff.
3.    Prepares and distributes daily operational revenue reports; records month-end revenue-related journal entries in alignment with financial reporting standards.
4.    Establishes and tailors audit programs and testing procedures to maintain accuracy and efficiency in audit execution.
5.    Coordinates staff involvement in project-related testing, audit development, and internal control review to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
6.    Maintains effective communication with other departments to resolve audit-related issues and support operational improvements.
7.    Determines sampling methods and specific analysis for high-risk audits, including but not limited to coin-in testing, game software changes, multi-game/multi-denominational meter readings, and gaming statistical reports. Evaluates results and ensures findings are documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
8.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university, required.

  • MBA degree and/or CPA preferred.

  • Minimum three (3) years’ work experience and/or training in Audit, Accounting, Fraud, Risk, Compliance, or other professional investigative or risk-based experience required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Controls (MICS), and the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) framework; familiarity with  Title 31 Bank Secrecy Act regulations preferred.

  • Ability to develop and tailor audit programs and testing procedures to meet regulatory and operational requirements. Skilled in identifying high-risk audit areas and applying appropriate sampling and analysis techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise audit staff, assign tasks effectively, and provide coaching and feedback to support performance and growth.

  • Experience in hiring and onboarding processes, including interview coordination and training plan execution.

  • Ability to foster a team environment that supports cross-training, career development, and succession planning.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally across all levels of the organization.

  • Maintains effective communication with cross-functional teams to resolve audit-related issues and support operational improvements.

  • Strong ability to employ a proactive approach to problem solving and overall execution of job responsibilities required.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting software, database software and casino Operating Systems preferred.

  • Advanced computer skills, including expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data analysis).

  • Demonstrates discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information, including personal and financial data.

  • Maintains independence and adheres to ethical standards, with no direct relatives involved in gaming operations or activities.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Driving Responsibilities: Role requires regular commuting between locations. A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required. Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

  • Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.

  • Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.

  • Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.

  • Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.

  • Sedentary work: involves sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

  • Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

  • Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.

  • Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.

  • Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.

  • Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.

  • The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
