The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

Reporting to the US Head of Benefits, serve as consultant and technical expert in support of the Bank's retirement program including pension and retiree health benefits. Provide subject matter expertise to benefits and other HR staff. Manage complex and high-profile benefits related projects.

Major Responsibilities: Responsible for providing expertise to management on the Bank's retirement programs.

Duties include:

  • Interpreting plan provisions; Recommending assumptions and coordinating with internal staff and external providers to complete pension administration tasks including complex pension and supplemental benefits calculations, analyses and related processes for individuals or groups of individuals, including executives. (35%)
  • Provide quality control for pension and retiree health administration work product, including work produced by outside administrators and system generated calculation results; ensure conformance with departmental desk procedures; identify internal and cross functional process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions (35%)
  • Independently manage complex benefits related projects; develop and implement project plans and timelines. Prepare analyses and presentations to assist management in decision making relative to benefit plan design and operation. (15%)
  • Draft written communications relating to benefits matters including letters to plan participants, attorneys, and survivors. Provide direction to benefits staff; resolve participant inquiries and escalated benefit issues based on independent analysis of plan provisions and applicable laws; (10%)
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and legal requirements and keep management informed of changes. (5%)

Requires direct work experience focused on defined benefit pension plans and defined contributions retirement programs. Preferred degree from a four-year college (e.g., B.A., B.S.). Proven track record demonstrating results-oriented project management, attention to detail and analytical skills. Familiarity with actuarial concepts, Social Security, Medicare, and funding concerns. Experience with regulatory environment: ERISA, IRS, DOL, PBGC, HIPAA etc. Advanced skills with standard desktop applications, including MS Excel and Access required. Experience with HR information systems and benefits related technology including third party report writers and SQL-based query tools. Some programming experience desirable.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $95,000 - $118,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
