Job Description:

Working with the Service Delivery Lead, this is a highly technical role, providing design and implementation engineering support on-site and remotely. The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain expertise on the wired and wireless products deployed within the Customer’s network and provide mentoring on networking solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical support to the Customer will require the Engineer to:
  • Provide best practice advice from your network experiences, design development, contribute to high level and low level network documentation, test plans and functionality guides for new networks.
  • Deliver technical knowledge transfers about network equipment, configuration, new products, design guidelines, etc
  • Provide proactive activity assistance and change recommendations for network equipment
  • Participate in testing and validation workshops, detailing methods and 
  • procedures for executing changes to the Customer’s existing network design and technical requirements, assessing pros and cons of ideas.
  • Carry out lab testing of new features and functionality or test corrective fixes 
  • required in the Customer environment; build automated topologies; develop and review implementation plans and verify they are operating accurately in the live network.
  • Understand the organisational structure of the working environment and 
  • become familiar with the Customers network implementation, architectural 
  • principals, and Support processes and procedures.
  • Assist the Customer to evolve Network Operating and Equipment Operating 
  • Procedures.
  • Deliver weekly reports on progress updates to projects, issues or problems.
  • Contribute to quarterly technical reviews and advice on Juniper equipment 
  • operation.


About You:
You are someone that is passionate about technology and excels in problem solving within challenging environments. You are focused, collaborative and love the work that you do. Achieving results motivates you. In addition, you have the following skills:

  • 10 years experience in providing implementation and technical support in large organisations which have many networking products from multiple vendors.
  • Detailed technical experience in the testing, installation and operation of wired 
  • and wireless networks and security products. This expertise includes hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, working with different internal departments  
  • and with the Customer in a responsible and professional fashion.
  • Expert level relationship management and communications skills to manage 
  • daily face to face communications with multiple levels of customer management and cross-functional engineering staff.
  • Proven ability to manage numerous projects and work efficiently.
  • Highly desirable to hold current certifications – JNCIS-MISTAI; JNCIP-SP; CCNP, CCIE a strong plus.
  • Must be located in Sydney and hold PR or citizenship.
