This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.

The role: 

We’re looking for a professional engineer to join our project delivery team in Klamath Falls who can take the lead on managing transportation construction projects across Oregon from initial design to final construction. In this role, you will ensure projects run smoothly, stay on budget and meet standards. You’ll oversee contracts approved by the Oregon Transportation Commission (OTC) and play a key role in selecting contractors, negotiating terms, resolving issues and ensuring compliance with technical and legal requirements. As an expert in contract management and project delivery, you’ll guide teams of engineers, technicians and other professionals, and help support transportation infrastructure for many communities. A day in the life:

  • Manage the design, pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.

  • Meet with contractors and consultants to plan and coordinate work, resolve issues and discuss contracts.

  • Ensure community input is asked for and implemented during the design and construction phases.

  • Present at public meetings and interact with the media.

  • Review work, recommend project acceptance once the contract is complete and submit final project documents.

  • Ensure contract work is done on time and meets the required standards and specifications.

  • Ensure payments are consistent with contract terms, monitor contract expenditures and manage contract change issues.

  • Perform field inspections and review incident reports in construction areas.

  • Handle financial tasks and prepare monthly reports.

  • Participate on region management and statewide teams.

  • Requires working evenings, weekends, in adverse weather, in and around construction sites, and overnight travel.

  • Hybrid work options available – the person in this position can work hybrid approximately 50% of the time depending on business needs.

Minimum qualifications:

Possession of a Civil Engineering (CE) license in the State of Oregon, OR the ability to obtain license within six months of hire, AND three years of licensed experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of the position.

OR

Possession of a Structural Engineering (SE) license in the State of Oregon, OR the ability to obtain license within six months of hire, AND three years of licensed experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of the position.

OR

Possession of a Geotechnical Engineering (GE) license in the State of Oregon OR the ability to obtain license within six months of hire, AND three years of licensed experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain a temporary permit to practice engineering, pursuant to ORS 672.109, within six months from date of hire.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
