About the Job

MS Amlin is seeking a Reserving Actuary to lead reserving activities for our Marine and Natural Resources divisions. The Reserving team plays an integral role in understanding business performance and supporting both financial and regulatory reporting.

In this role, you will take ownership of reserving across key portfolios, with scope to rotate into other lines over time. You’ll also contribute to group wide reporting and ongoing enhancements to reserving processes and methodologies.

We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical capability and a naturally inquisitive mindset and someone who can turn complex data into clear, meaningful insights that support informed decision making.

What you’ll spend your time doing:

Innovation and Insight

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and insight.
  • Design and perform analysis to explore trends, movements and emerging risks.
  • Collaborate across Finance, Claims and Underwriting to strengthen business understanding.

Management and Analysis

  • Deliver timely, accurate reserving estimates for financial reporting and performance analysis.
  • Review data and methods to ensure appropriateness across UK GAAP, Solvency II and IFRS 17 bases.
  • Support development of new reserving tools, data governance and automation initiatives.

Communication

  • Present clear findings and recommendations to senior actuaries and management.
  • Engage with auditors and regulators to support confidence in reserving results.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive team culture.

What you’ll need:

  • Qualified Actuary (FIA or equivalent) with experience in reserving or a closely related actuarial field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and commercial understanding.
  • The ability to communicate complex information in a clear and compelling way to a range of stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset, with curiosity and an enthusiasm for improving processes and driving better outcomes.
