The University of Louisville is seeking to hire a Research Compliance Specialist I. This position reports to the Supervisor, Research Compliance. The position’s primary role is to support the review and management of conflicts of interest (COI) in research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Answer questions related to COI policies and procedures by phone, email or walk-in based upon client contact.
Determine role and disclosure status of external collaborators and consultants on sponsored program proposals and grant awards.
Assist Director in responding to reports of non-compliance and open records requests.
Maintain a working knowledge of FDA, USDA, HHS, OHRP and ORI policies and regulations, state law and university policies and guidelines pertaining to human subject research, animal research, conflict of interest and research integrity; state regulations, rules, policies and guidelines involving administration of sponsored programs, protection of personally identifiable research information.
Obtain continuing professional education to maintain compliance certifications and licenses to expand professional competencies
Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four years of demonstrated research experience.
Previous experience in conflict of interest management is a plus. Preferred candidate will have knowledge and experience with the academic environment, especially as related to research. Preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience dealing with confidential issues and experience in communicating confidential matters.

Preference will be given to candidates with strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated writing and communication skills, excellent analytical skills, excellent project management skills and the ability to collaborate to establish comprehensive strategies with appropriate objectives, metrics, and execution schedules. The ideal candidate will be able to make decisions, problem solve and handle confidential information with discretion.

This position is located at the JD Nichols Campus for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in downtown Louisville. This is primarily an in-office position with the possibility for hybrid arrangments after the initial 6-month training period.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
