Research Scientist to independently perform basic research in renal injury and kidney diseases; conduct and supervise experimental research for NIH-funded projects with the goals of developing new directions for research initiatives and establishing extramurally funded, independent research activities; performs experiments and collects data; develops devices or techniques for studies, including experimental techniques, hardware, software, statistical methods, etc; Prepare research results for publication in professional journals, books, etc; present research findings at national meetings and in other appropriate ways disseminates scientific knowledge to the research community; develop and submit grant proposals of original research as principal investigator; obtain significant research and salary support from external granting agencies; participate in determining research priorities and planning programs of research; assist in the management of research and development efforts; management of biosafety and animal use compliance in the lab.
Required Experience: PhD in biological sciences; Extensive experience in acute kidney injury, biochemistry and molecular biology; demonstrated ability to be a competent and productive researcher as evidenced by peer-reviewed publication record, citation of research by others, contributions to the research field. Desired Experience: Experience in animal experiments is preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
