Initiates and leads research and development in the areas of Biomedical Engineering, including cell mechanics, cell biophysics, and biosensor development; collaborates with and helps manage research staff, graduate and undergraduate students in the research group;

serves as Principal Investigator (PI) or co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) on research grants and contracts; initiates, sustains, and concludes sponsored research projects; serves as liaison with sponsoring agencies and organizations as well as other research and educational institutions;

prepares research proposals for development and continuation of various research areas; develops new systems, topics for future investigations, and enhanced capability;

coordinates analysis of research findings; prepares detailed summaries for sponsoring agencies; prepares reports and research manuscripts; makes presentations at conferences and symposia.

Qualifications

Required:  Ph.D. biomedical engineering or a related area of study in biological sciences or medicine; extensive experience in cell culture, biochemical and cell biology assays, mouse animal experiments, confocal microscopy; demonstrated ability as a competent and productive researcher (such as author of several publications of substantial interest and value as evidenced by favorable reviews, by presentation of papers to professional societies, contributions to new designs or techniques of material significance in the solution of important problems).

Desired:  Extensive experience in cell mechanics, mechanobiology, or cell biophysics, experience as PI or co-PI on research programs.

Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $71,000 - $73,000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. The continuation of positions hired on research funds are contingent upon continued availability of funds.
