POSITION SPECIFICS
The Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS) at Penn State seeks a Research Project Manager to join our Project Management team.
ICDS is a multi-disciplinary research computing Institute supporting a diverse group of researchers from more than 70 academic departments from nearly all of Penn State’s academic colleges and campuses. We facilitate new collaborations, fund new areas of research, and collaborate to overcome computational and data science challenges. ICDS brings a diverse community of scholars and provides them with cutting-edge computing tools and data analysis services to further their science. This position will provide critical support to that mission.
Work Arrangement: This position requires on-site work and is not supportive of remote work.
This is a term position that is renewed annually, with funding secured for two years from the start date and a potential for further renewal
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
Facilitate research computing-based projects, including collaboration with investigators, sponsors, technical staff, and financial teams to ensure the delivery of project commitments
Collect and manage data to monitor project resources and reports to ensure successful execution
Engage faculty to identify opportunities for direct cost recovery of ICDS resources and services
Provides subject matter expertise in both the research discipline and project management
Required qualifications and skills include the following:
Experience coordinating and executing on strategic objectives tied to research computing
Expertise in relating effectively with faculty and managing relationships across institutions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Impeccable ethics and integrity with a strong work ethic
and excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
Additional desired qualifications and skills include the following:
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate experience and skills in developing and delivering communications internally within a university setting as well as the ability to give talks to external audiences for workshops and annual reporting to funding agencies. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to provide candid and constructive feedback to help others accept and implement findings and recommendations across technical teams.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Master's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
