The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes, is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in partnership with Imperial College London, LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The School’s primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group, a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise, facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical School. In August 2024, we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme, that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine, with an emphasis on technology, data science and the humanities.
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow to join the BatLab to focus on various aspects of translational immunology and aging research in bats. The work will be conducted in a research group led by Nanyang Assistant Professor Ahn Matae who is a pioneer in bat immunology. The projects focus on bat-inspired targets to fight human diseases and ageing, and have multiple national and international collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and/or research findings.
Assist researchers in programming, data analysis and literature review in various research projects.
Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication.
Contribute to project management, presentations and publications of research work, including supervision of students and occasional laboratory demonstrations where applicable.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described therein.
Key Competencies and Requirements:
PhD degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Biotechnology or related field
At least 2 years of relevant experiences in cell culture and molecular experiments
Prior working experience in the areas of immunology, aging or cancer is preferred but not compulsory for those with good academic and research track record.
Demonstrated good knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
Equipped with effective organizational and interpersonal communications with excellent written, oral communication and computer skills.
A team player who is able to prioritize, multi-task and work collaboratively in a diverse workforce.
