Join Our Team at Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies, School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

A Research Fellow position is currently available at the Centre for Disruptive Photonic Technologies (CDPT), School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

The Research Fellow (Project Leader) will be required to substantially advance a research programme focused on next-generation optical imaging and sensing technologies, aimed at pushing the boundaries of performance and enabling new capabilities for applications in quantum science, environmental monitoring, and advanced microscopy.

CDPT is looking for a highly motivated candidate with keen interest in optics, imaging systems, and integrated photonic or optoelectronic platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

As an integral part of the project, the Research Fellow is expected to conduct research in optical imaging and photonic technologies, contributing to the development of innovative solutions for next-generation sensing and imaging systems. The role requires the experimental design and operation of photonic and optoelectronic platforms, collaboration with research teams, and contribution to scientific publications.

The Research Fellow is expected to work, generate ideas and experimentally prove them both independently and within team-working efforts with other researchers working on the project.

Job Requirements:

The Research Fellow will be required to:

  • Design and conduct experiments in optical imaging, spectroscopy, and related photonic applications.

  • Operating and maintaining research laboratories, including advanced microscopy and spectroscopy equipment, in compliance with safety and laboratory protocols.

  • Analyze data, prepare scientific publications, and present findings at international conferences.

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners on joint research projects and technology development.

  • Contribute to progress reports, project meetings, and support day-to-day laboratory operations.

Moreover, applicants:

  • Must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Optical/Photonic Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related disciplines

  • Applicants must have relevant research experience in optical imaging, spectroscopy and/or integrated photonics or optoelectronic systems.

  • Must have a good track record of scientific publications in international peer reviewed journals

  • Preferably have research experience in photonic interactions, light-matter coupling and/or structured light optical systems.

  • Should have strong background in nanofabrication and sample preparation methods

  • Should show ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong initiative

  • Should show good communication and interpersonal skills
