NTU SINGAPORE

Research Fellow (Chemistry/Physics/Materials Science)

NTU Main Campus, Singapore Full time

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team working on the molecular design of next-generation luminescent materials. The successful candidate will work at the interface of computational chemistry and photophysics, applying advanced modeling tools to elucidate and predict the structure–property relationships of organic luminophores. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with experimental groups and contribute to high-impact publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and model novel fluorophores with enhanced brightness, photostability, and emission efficiency for advanced fluorescence imaging techniques (e.g., super-resolution, two-photon microscopy).

  • Investigate room-temperature phosphorescence mechanisms in organic molecules.

  • Conduct mechanistic studies on aggregation, photobleaching, and hydrogen bonding effects.

  • Develop predictive computational frameworks linking molecular structures to photophysical behaviors.

Job Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.

  • Proven research track record demonstrated by high-quality publications.

  • Strong expertise in computational modeling of molecular systems.

  • Proficiency with quantum chemical and molecular dynamics tools (e.g., Gaussian, ORCA, VASP, or equivalent) is an advantage.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative and proactive research attitude.
