The Department's faculty have received numerous awards, including more Nobel Prize laureates and John Bates Clark medalists in economics than any other university. Job Summary
Reporting to Professor John List, the Research Coordinator will collaborate with the Co-Principal Investigators of the social media study and the longitudinal Chicago Heights Early Childhood Study (CHECC). The Research Coordinator will assist with executing the study partnerships with school districts, supervising a team of field assessors and researchers, and collecting data from data share partners. In addition, the Research Coordinator will support the Thirty Million Words (TMW) Center for Early Learning + Public Health, a collaboration with the Economics Department, on a longitudinal study.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation of training materials, assessments, and new project procedures.
- Conduct school district and parent outreach to schedule in-person study components.
- Independently identify and recruit school districts to collaborate as partners.
- Attend in-person study execution in schools.
- Provide study details and presentations to school personnel.
- Coordinate consistent data collection with existing data share agreement partners.
- Coordinate outreach to TMW families.
- Conduct TMW family visits.
- Assign study personnel for the TMW family visits.
- Attend on-campus meetings and events, if needed.
- Supervise and train research support personnel and field assessors.
- Coordinate research staff, assessors and research assistants' schedules for study timelines in schools.
- May approve Research Assistants (student employees) hours in Workday.
- Review of Orbit reports in Oracle to track study expenses.
- Ensure financial budgets and expenses comply with university guidelines.
- Partner with the Senior Administrator to ensure expenses and research staff salaries are allocated correctly.
- Coordinate with the research team on the purchase of study materials.
- Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge relevant to administer a research project. With a moderate level of direction, manages lab and/or research-related duties and tasks. Helps develop, design and conduct research projects according to plan.
- Takes responsibility for the following non-laboratory duties: transcribing and coding data; developing data collection instruments; presenting research; and recruiting and scheduling research subjects. Acquires higher-level skills and knowledge in the process.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

- Knowledge and skills developed through work experience or training in early education, early childhood systems, applied research, or related discipline.
