Job Description:

Designs, conducts, and troubleshoots experiments, analyzes data, communicates science. Under direct supervision, this role will support faculty members in conducting professional research within chemistry research. Primary responsibilities to include aiding in research tasks, data collection and analysis, and report preparation.

 

  • Laboratory chemistry research, chemical literature research

  • Assists in conducting research activities, including data analysis, literature reviews, and experiment execution, as applicable.

  • Collaborates in preparing reports, abstracts, and presentations for reports, conferences, or publications.

  • Provides support in coordinating events, social media efforts, or other dissemination activities related to research findings, as applicable. 

  • Participates in relevant meetings and training sessions to stay informed and contribute effectively to research projects. 

  • Collaborates with team members in a collegial and professional manner, adhering to all institutional policies and guidelines.

  • Position is grant funded for the period January 1, 2026 - May 31, 2026

EDUCATION

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

EXPERIENCE

Required:

Experience with solid-phase peptide synthesis and familiarity with supramolecular chemistry.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in relevant research methodologies and tools, such as statistical software (e.g., SPSS), laboratory techniques, or research ethics.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, for effective collaboration and report writing.
  • Familiarity with subject-specific practices and protocols (e.g., IRB procedures, statistical analysis, etc.).
  • Organizational skills to manage tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating professionalism and integrity in all interactions.

Applications are invited for an entry-level Research Associate position in the Department of Chemistry at Trinity University.  The position is in the research areas of supramolecular and peptide chemistry.  Candidates must have a bachelor of science in degree, experience with solid-phase peptide synthesis, and knowledge of supramolecular chemistry.  The principal investigator is Prof. Adam R.
