Expected pay range for this position is $ 80,000 – 110,000 per annum.
The Research Associate (RA) will function as the laboratory manager and administrator for the Schafer research group. The RA will also function as the primary liaison on an ongoing industry collaboration aimed at commercialization of catalyst and polymer technologies developed by the Schafer Group at UBC.
Responsibilities:
Lab manager responsible for day-to-day functioning of the laboratory including safety and organization.
Other administrative tasks needed for the operational management of the research group.
Work with industry partner(s) to further the commercialization of catalyst and polymer technologies
Mentorship of graduate student and postdocs.
Editing and submission of manuscripts and patent applications.
Writing grant applications.
Minimum requirements:
PhD in chemistry with 2 years of work experience after graduation.
Candidates with industry experience preferred.
Experience in organometallic and polymer chemistry.
Expertise in synthetic chemistry, catalysis and spectroscopic methods.
A strong publication record.
Excellent communication and analytical abilities; ability to independently design experiments and to mentor younger scientists.
