Hourly Rate:

AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $31.89 ou/or $50.25 (2024-2025)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Nature of Work:

The UnborderED knowledge project aims to widen, deepen and institutionalize equitable access to education and research opportunities for students and academics with lived experiences of forced migration in Canada. Cluster 1 of project aims to answer this research question:  To what extent do existing initiatives for displaced students and researchers in Canada institutionalize equitable access and outcomes? A research assistant is needed to perform 130 hours of work to support the cluster members in realizing the objectives of year one of the project. Description of tasks:

  • Survey Design & Administration (40 hrs): Contribute to the design of a survey to identify existing programs/initiatives in Canadian postsecondary education institutions for students and researchers with lived experiences of displacement; Identify an liaise with organizational contacts at multi-institution programs (e.g., WUSC, CARFMS, SAR) to design/confirm survey protocol(s); Program and test the instrument in SurveyMonkey;
  • Administer the survey following protocol(s). Document Collection (40 hrs): Contribute to the design and implementation of a methodology for systematically identifying and collecting all relevant public-facing documents from Canadian postsecondary institutions and collaborating organizations (e.g., project partners) – documents are those related to i) existing programs/initiatives and ii) related institutional policies (e.g., EDI).
  • Data Management and Analysis (30 hrs): Organize data from surveys and documents; contribute to the analysis of data and support the preparation of reports and presentations. Administrative & Logistical Support (10 hrs): Help coordinate cluster meetings and track project tasks and timelines.
  • Meeting Participation and Documentation (10 hrs): Attend regular team meetings, take detailed notes, and maintain organized records of decisions, tasks, and progress within shared files.

Qualifications :

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage data.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

• Proficiency with Excel or similar data tools.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

• Proficiency with SurveyMonkey.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully with diverse participants and community partners.

• Full bilingualism in English and French (spoken and written) is considered a strong asset

• Experience in conducting community-based research or needs assessments is an asset.

• Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program.
