Reporting to the Firebag Reliability Manager, the Reliability Production Unit (PU) Representative is a key member of the PU Team, dedicated to supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. Based on-site, this role serves as the primary point of contact for all reliability related matters within the PU. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and technical teams to identify and address equipment reliability issues, set priorities, and drive initiatives that improve plant performance and support personnel safety.Minimum Requirements:
At least 3 years of formal or informal technical leadership experience, preferably in a unionized environment
10 or more years of technical experience with heavy industrial and/or production equipment
A bachelor’s degree in engineering
Must be a Professional Engineer or eligible for membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Demonstrated multi-disciplined engineering knowledge and experience to effectively support the resolution of all reliability issues within the PU
Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively allocate technical resources across different disciplines in conjunction with colleagues that support other PUs
Experienced in performing Management of Change (MOC) work in a structured and disciplined way
Proficient in CMMS (SAP) to input and extract relevant asset maintenance and reliability information
Solid understanding of Operational Health & Safety standards and codes pertaining to Canada/Alberta heavy industry
Valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
Initial point of contact for all reliability engineering scope within the PU
Collaborate with the PU Team to identify and resolve technical issues affecting safety or production and with the maintenance and/or reliability engineer(s) for development of equipment strategies
Select, specify, and design the installation of equipment and systems, with support from the maintenance and/or reliability engineer as required
Extract reliability data from CMMS (SAP), DCS, Asset Management System (AMS) to support reliability analysis (failure rates, replacement costs, failure codes, and types of failures)
Employ casual analysis techniques supporting equipment failure investigations to effectively identify and eliminate root causes
Steward coordination of Management of Change (MOC) initiatives for the PU
Support planning and scheduling processes to ensure scoping, planning, and resource availability milestones are met
Develop business cases for equipment improvements
Support engineering scope development for turnarounds and major outages. Act as the primary point of contact for all reliability issues during the event(s) to achieve outage milestones and ensure optimum plant performance
Location and other Key Details:
You will work out of our Firebag location, which is our largest in situ operation and one of the largest in the world (and located 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta)
The position will be on a 4x3 shift schedule (Monday-Thursday); 10 hr shifts with potential for extended work hours based on business needs
This position is safety sensitive
Our engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
