Pay Range

$40.30 - $60.45

Major Responsibilities:
Manages, develops, implements and evaluates the standards of care in a specialty area to facilitate quality patient care, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
1)Maintains accurate preference cards for the assigned surgical specialty which utilizes resources. Collaborates with Surgeon and team members to provide cost effective care by evaluating and assessing the use of soft goods. Coordinates preference card maintenances.
2)Collaborates with the Surgery Leadership Team to resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
3)In collaboration with the Executive Director of Perioperative Services, Clinical Manager, and ACM to assures that intra-operative compliance with regulatory agencies is met.
4)Acts as a clinical resource to advise the perioperative team in areas of specialty expertise using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards OR staff and other hospital departments.
5)Leads IP Turnover Times and partners with the Scheduler Coordinator/OR Manager/Director to meet designated turnover time targets for specific cases.
6)Follow up with team members on any safety issues and communicate to the leadership team.
7)Leads and Participates in unit-based process improvement projects.
8)Serves as a role model of professional behavior.
9)To review future cases for appropriate PPT codes and to ensure that the appropriate trays, equipment, implants, and supplies are available.
10)To collaborate with the POA at the start of the day to discuss service needs and at the end of the shift to discuss next day’s needs.

Promotes and supports an environment that is conducive to staff growth, development and autonomy.
8)Leads unit/hospital activities such as educational opportunities and Shared Governance Team.
1)Defines and implements service-specific orientation programs in conjunction with Clinical managers, Assistant Clinical Managers and Educator which augments the intra-operative orientation classes.
2)Provides ongoing feedback to Clinical managers, Assistant Clinical Managers and educator regarding orientees/team performance.
3)Mentors Team members within the specialty as required.
4)Fosters ongoing professional development of staff by assisting with performance and assessment of needs assisting individuals with identification of professional goals.
5)Accountable for assuring intra-operative staff are educated on essentials components of surgical specialty for off shifts and on-call assignments.
6)Provides /assists the manager with input for the team members during their evaluation process.
Is accountable for appropriate resources utilization with surgical specialty.
5)Fosters a collaborative relationship with Sterile Processing Department (SPD. Communicates with Sterile Processing Department regarding instrumentation needs including special instrumentation needs including special instructions for care/handling/cleaning/sterilization for assigned specialty services.
1)Review inventory on specialized supply carts; remove outdated supplies, bring to be soon out dated items to the attention of material management.
2)Collaborate with supply chain regarding ordering of supplies to material management and develop/evaluate PAR levels.

4)Serves as a liaison for vendors.


Licensure:

Nurse, Registered (RN)

Education/Experience Required:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Three years nursing experience in operating rooms or relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Clinically appropriate skills. Ability to cooperate and work well with internal / external customers. Communication skills.
Current licensure in the State of Illinois as Registered Nurse. CPR Certification. CNOR within 6 months.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to demonstrate a commitment to patient-focused care. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with time constraints. May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases. Ability to perform lifting/transfer activities related to patients (up to 50 lbs. may be required) (medium). Ability to work designated shifts, including weekends and holidays. Ability to transport objects from one location to another. Ability to be on-call as assigned. This position needs to recognize needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
