Summary
Responsible and accountable for the performance of high quality routine, complex neurodiagnostic procedures with a certification in Long Term Monitoring (CLTM) modalities and/or Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (IONM) under minimal supervision, to include accurate patient measurements and electrode application, precise recordings, proper adjustment of equipment and testing procedure to reflect patient need and/or clinical physiology, enabling physician to make proper interpretation of study. Must be flexible to cross cover sites and assigned shifts.

Job Duties
  • Provides critical care monitoring to ensure high quality ICU/cEEG recording in correlation to the clinical condition of the critical care patient.
  • According to policy and procedures performs high quality neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Technologists knows indications for LTME, diagnosis of epilepsy, classification of seizures, localization of seizures, seizure surface or implanted electrodes, cortical function using electrical stimulation.
  • According to policy and procedure, prepare patient for testing by performing proper application of scalp according to the 10-20 International System of Electrode Placement as well as recording and stimulating electrodes for Evoked Potential procedures.
  • Adheres to all polices and procedures and participates in all mandatory programs.
  • Ensures documentation is accurate and complete and performs a variety of clerical tasks.
  • Exhibits behaviors and attitude critical to successful role proficiency.
  • Utilizes effective communication skills in all interpersonal interaction with physicians, clinical staff, fellow employees, hospital staff and the public.
  • Performs other duties/goals as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree Successful completion of a Neurodiagnostic program or an Associates Degree in Health Care or related field. or
  • Current Registration in EEG.
  • Completion of ASET-Neurodiagnostic Society curriculum of 10 modules for Long Term Monitoring/ICU to obtain Certification.
  • 3 years experience in neurodiagnostic testing
  • Ability to problem solve using basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and work independently as well as interdependently with physicians, co-workers, and other clinical staff.
  • Detail oriented with efficient computer skills.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
  • CLTM - Certificat in Neurophysiologic Long Term Monitoring - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

  • Bachelor’s Degree

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
